★★★☆☆ Lufthansa admits on its own website (http://www.lufthansa.com/us/en/Special-meals) that its Moslem meal is NOT HALAL, by saying:
Moslem meal: No use of pork, no venison and no alcohol used. The meat is not "halal".
And at another point, (http://www.lufthansa.com/online/portal/lh/us/nonav/local?nodeid=1874684&l=en)
EDIT: Lufthansa changed the website explanation for Muslim meal to: "All meat and poultry products used are certified as slaughtered according to halal guidelines."
Muslim style: No pork or game, non-alcoholic
The customers who think that 'Moslem meal' is 'Halal meal' are simply tricked. Posted on July 7, 2022 |

NR On Lufthansa's US and DE websites it clearly states that Moslem Meal is NOT 'Halal'.
So this airline needs to be removed from this site. Posted on August 16, 2011 |

NR You need to order your halal meal when you do the flight booking with Lufthansa. They do have halal food in flight, you just need to order it. Here's a good article about their halal food

★★★☆☆ I've ordered the Muslim meal several times on flights leaving Frankfurt, and stopped doing so because it was too spicy for my stomach to tolerate on the flight. It says on the meals that it comes from a restaurant in Frankfurt (sounds Lebanese). Now I just order seafood, and on flights departing from Newark/NY there is always a vegetarian option that is good. Posted on July 11, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ I always order Kosher with these european airlines just to be on the safe side. Kosher meals are served first before regular meals and have the hebrew and english writing so the meat is probably safe to eat. the meals were nice i recall Posted on May 27, 2009 |

NR I am about to fly on Lufthansa in 10 days and was researching their Halal menu. I found out they have a halal kitchen in frankfurt and in many other parts of the world. They bought the halal catering business from Malaysian airlines which pioneered the halal menu business. They also provide meals to Emirates and several other airlines.
Here is a great article I found on the Halal Journal site that talks about the thorough processes implemented to ensure halal at the airline's catering facilities: http://www.halaljournal.com/index.php?page=article&act=show&category=0&pid=859
Based on this, I will request halal meal for my flights and hopefully it will be a good one. I'll let you guys know how it turned out. Posted on July 21, 2008 |

★☆☆☆☆ I travelled from LA to Hyderabad (India). It was worst experience with this Airline. There is no personal A/C or personal monitor . The A/C is centralized that means only one AC running at the back of aeroplane. those in the midsection and seating after the business class feel too hot and I was very restless throghout the flight. My connecting flight left Frankfurt bcoz my flight from LA reached 30mins delayed. (connecting flight was within 45mins) and I had to stay in airport for one day. Please note you cannot go out for hotel accommodation . You need German visa to go out for the airline provided hotels. If you dont have the visa or if you are not a US citizen then they treat you as a garbage.. The staff at Frankfurt is very rude. Reg food , they say it is Halal.. I guess they are considering "anything without pork is Halal " which is not correct. if you are flying from west coast, i would suggest Malaysian airlines, it would be Halal food and a cheaper fare. NR My travel agent (a Muslim lady in Santa Clara, CA) told me that Muslim meals aboard Lufthansa aren't halal. This is something to keep in mind. Posted on January 30, 2005 |

★★★★☆ I ordered Muslim special meal my way from Frankfort to Dallas. It was spicy (Pakistani/indian taste) meat loaf with rice and vegitables. It was not bad! Posted on August 27, 2004 |

★★★★★ I would not forget this flight, since I was in first class with an Indian actress Zeenat Aman two seats ahead of me...! The food was nice. I had a veggie salad and ice cream! I noticed that Zeenat was having a roast beef sandwich and fried chicken wings!
The service was good. Posted on May 20, 2004 |
