★★★★☆ I have flown on a number of airlines primarily to the Far East and a lot of the food I've had has been pretty bland or nasty. This year I had the opportunity to fly from Los Angeles to Saudi Arabia on British Airways I was surprised at how good the Halal food was. This was the first time that during a long flight I ate my fill. The food was Indo Pak style. That said of all the airlines I've been on the must have one of the worst breakfasts, and that goes for the regular non-halal also. They a picnic style box with a few offerings in. Still, Thanks British Airways. Posted on January 27, 2011 |

★☆☆☆☆ The last time a flew and ordered the "Moslem Meal" it was a piece of curried chicken and a lump of rock hard rice with some limp vegetables. The smell made me ill. I do not fly British Air anymore because they harassed my wife because she wears hijab. One of the worst airlines ever. Posted on May 18, 2010 |

★★★★☆ I flew from Phx to London last year on BA. The meal served on phx to London route was horrible. They served some kind of rice (which i had never encountered in my life) and fish (its smell made me nauseated) Bad Experience! However on way back home the food was excellent. They served Chicken Biryani with daal (never seen that combo before) and Kheer for dessert. I think the meal served by an airline heavily depends on the route. The airline may have a excellent supplier in one city whereas an avg supplier in another city. Posted on May 10, 2010 |

★★★★☆ Thie system in meal is simple, if the flight is to a muslim country they would usually not include pork in their food. However, the other meats they use wouldn't be halal. Halal food must be requested in advance when you go to "manage my booking" on their website.
Their halal meals are most suited to south asians, but nevertheless taste quite nice. expect rice with some other protein (eggs, fish, ... etc). Posted on April 19, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ Fly every now and then on flights within Europe on which they serve a cheese sandwich. They say it is suitable for vegetarians but it contains white wine vinegar. Some people might say it is jus a vinegar but I will not eat anything with wine in it. Posted on November 17, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ I have been travelling with BA fairly ocassionally with over the years. Up until last year they used to provide Halal food prepared by a UK based company who are certified halal. That used to be nice meal, spicy (i like spicy food) and pretty filling. However, since this year I have noticed that they do not provide the same food now. Its no longer a company packed food, instead its like normal airline packing with a tick on moslem meal. The problem is that it is no longer meat/chicken.its same as vegetarian meal but i suppose something is better than nothing as i dont trust that the usual food served will be halal. Of course, on some routed they have fish as an option so i dont think id go with the moslem meal option; however its difficult to predict if they have a fish option. overall good service....no complaints Posted on October 17, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Flew from NY to London on a BA flight and both me and my husband had the halal meal. WORST CURRY WE HAVE EVER HAD and it made us so sick we were vomiting the rest of the flight. The stewardess had the audacity to rudely yell at me while I am throwing up that I am disturbing other passengers. On top of that they lost all our luggage and it took us FOREVER to get reimbursed. My family has vowed to NEVER fly British Airways again no matter how much cheaper their flghts are. Posted on December 28, 2007 |

★★★☆☆ as i travel on an almost monthly basis with BA i have done a lot of research, and from there own mouths and in writing i can confirm that we cannot be sure if the muslims meals are halal therefore i would stick to their veg or hot seafood option, its actually quite nice, i once made the mistake of ordering asian veg, was given daal and subsequently had the runs while in air! not a pleasant experience! ★★★★☆ food is good, so is the serving. i travel in BA a lot, the only thing is that the food is always the same: chicken masala for lunch and tomato and cheese sandwich. Posted on May 22, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ DONT ORDER THEIR MUSLIM MEAL OF YOU DONT LIKE SPICY! I ordered it and ate everything else that was in the tray after the first bite trying to put the fire down in my mouth, extremely HOT, I asked for something else and was given that, not much hassle at the airport, my wife loves the market there. ★★★★★ One of the most comfortable flights and probably the most memorable flight I've ever had. Excellent service, and the meal and the flight crew were as memorable as the flight itself, definitely worth each penny! Posted on December 19, 2005 |

NR As a employee, the issue of halal meat on catering services onboard BA flights, will remain exactly that, an 'issue' as the verification is not possible at the time of flight. This is because BA buys its meats from more than one supplier, but one supplier is a Halal supplier, a possible German company. But on particular flights this meat is used on is not verifiable. Though most flights are most probably are halal, as this is the main supplier, but only outbound from LHR. There again, the supplier used for that particular service maybe different, and there is no verification of halal meat onboard. Those concerned should book a muslim/vegiterian meal, this is confirmed halal meat, as the catering supplier, at London have a seperate Halal kitchen. So in brief, its still not verified, but i hope you can understand why the airline can not verify that meat onboard is halal. As the supplier for that service is not known, but further down the chain it could be verified. But then this causes further problems from airline business point of view. Posted on August 3, 2005 |

★★★☆☆ The service is OK. Food was vegetarian not exactly halal. I'm not a vegetarian myself so didn't like the food at all. It was ok I guess. Posted on July 10, 2005 |

NR Baba Fulaan,
Was this a flight to a Muslim country? All meals may well have been halal on a flight to a Muslim country. Posted on May 31, 2005 |

★★★★★ I have been on British Airways many times and their food has been of a high standard everytime. On my last trip to Kuwait which was around christmas time I was served Halal turkey with sprouts and carrots and potatoes. When I went to Egypt I was served a lamb and rice dish. Their food is better than PIA! Posted on March 29, 2005 |

★★★★☆ I requested a Muslim meal on my flight to NY from the UK. Outbound journey received the same meal as other passengers (just a little bit earlier than everyone) - chicken pasta which was quite tasty as far as airline food goes. Inward leg I was served the muslim meal again, which was this time different to the rest of the passengers and was only vegetarian but still tasty enough. Overall quite pleased! ★★★★★ I ws travelling from Abu Dhabi - Washington D.C. and I ordered a halal meal. The food was good, complete Asian food. Well, I am not sure that they were Halal or not. Posted on September 28, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ www.ba.com suggests that Muslim meal contains meat that is 'ritually slaughtered'. Can others confirm whether BA Muslims meals contain zabiha meat? I also gather that many BA flights to Muslim countries serve Halal meals by default. Again can anyone confirm? Posted on September 17, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ I think what Naser experienced is the litereal meaning of Halal, as in , mostly everything is "HALAL" or "Allowed/Jaiz" to eat, i.e no PIGS. A lot of Muslim Arabs follow this opinion. But what you may want to ask is whether it is Zabihah, but be carefule expressing the Zabihah sign :) on the plane. Know what I mean, especially now a days....GOod luck. Posted on April 27, 2004 |

★★★★★ I flew to the UK from New York, and requested a "Muslim Meal" as they call Halal. I was happy to see that when mealtime came, the steward brought the meal to me. It consisted of some chicken with curry and rice, not bad, plus gulabjamin for dessert. On the flight back from London, the meal was a pasta with mushrooms that was pretty good. I was impressed to see a Western Airline going out of their way to cater to Muslim passengers. Posted on April 19, 2004 |

★★☆☆☆ I was travelling business class from London to Hong Kong and had requested a halal meal in advance, while the dinner was menu based on the plane itself I could select a "halal" choice (actully there was no halal but there was seafood or vergetarian). It was fine so no reason to complain. After dinner the Aussie woman next to me pulled out a bottle of rum which she proceeded to drink for about 3 hours until she was ready for bed. The smell was not pleasant and I asked to be moved but was told there were no empty seats, I was not in a good mood, but kept reminding myself that it wasnt really the airlines fault that I wassat next to a rather dodgy drunk woman. However, things continued downhill. At breakfast I requested the halal breakfast and was presented by the stward with my "Muslim meal", which was a plate of plain boiled artificially coloured rice. I asked him "what the hell is that? are you feeling alright, who on earth eats a bowl of boild rice for breakfast", and told im to get me some proper breakfst sharpish. I got several apologies and a big breakfast in the end. Overall AVOID. Posted on March 15, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ I have used BA on december and was told that all meals on BA flights leaving from the UK are completly Halal for all passangers and this was confirmed by more than one BA staff.
In any case I had orderd Halal before I left and the food was labeled Halal and it was the same food for other passanger. Posted on February 29, 2004 |

★☆☆☆☆ We went to Iran via Virgin and British this last december. While on British flying into Iran we were lied to by the stewerdesses as to what the halal status of the meals was. I have to mention that we specifically ordered Halal meals for all of our filghts. They evidently did not have the proper meals for us. The three people in front of us were put into the same situation as they questioned what was going on as well.
Also, off the food issue, watch out. Don't consume too much liquid on one of their flights as the lavatories had no water available in them. This was relayed to us as well by the passengers sitting in front of us. Posted on February 15, 2004 |
