★★★☆☆ I attempted to eat here 2 years back. Was madly busy. We were told it would be a long wait for a table. We went else where. Make sure you have a reservation before going, especially on weekends. Posted on January 2, 2015 |

★★★☆☆ Thought the food was superb, and drinks again can not complain. Nice trendy place to dine i must say, but unfortunately one of the male staff was unprofessional in conduct in my opinion on that Sunday afternoon. Shame because i would have rated it Excellent otherwise. Posted on October 24, 2013 |

★★★★☆ the first time I visited this place, first impressions I thought it was pretty small and tight spaced. menu was really nice, different to your traditional halal restaurants. I had already eaten prior to coming here so wasn't really hungry. My friend and I bought a few starters and sides, everything was nice but a little expensive. we had chicken skins, adobo wings and filled pastries. for sides we had the mac and cheese and garlic Parmesan fries. service was a little slow and toilets need sorting out. they smell and there was no jug to wash yourself. ★★★★★ I love this place. It's so nice to have non-standard halal food (i.e. halal food from non-typically halal restaurants). They do great steaks, burgers etc. I believe the owners may be of Guyanese origin, but it's all the same. the food is good Caribbean/Latin style and the atmosphere in the venue is great.
There is a small shisha garden at the back, but I haven't checked it out.
It is generally a young crowd, as you might expect being so close to Camden. It's a nice mix of different people and as it's BYOB (Bring your own booze) it obviously attracts a mixed crowd, but the atmosphere has always been pleasant and the food, great. Posted on December 4, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ Salaam,
We visited Guanabana yesterday, and my feedback is as follows. The burger (we ordered the Guanabana Beef burger) was really tasty not like any burger I have had before. However the burgers don't come with any sides and these have to be ordered separately - which racks up the cost at this place. The staff are friendly, with regards to the resturent, some parts are really nice and well decorated whilst others look like a construction site...
The one thing about this place that really lets it down - which is why I may not come again - is the location (which sadly is not really in their control). Trying to get to this place by public transport is a nightmare and walking through Camden Town is not a pleasant experience especially with a sister. So unless you are travelling by car, this last point would put be off coming here again. Posted on September 16, 2012 |

★★★★★ I visited this restaurant twice in a row, great customer service. Burger tastes great and unique. When Ordering with sides the costs add up. But well worth it. It's busy so worth booking ahead. You can park for free in the evenings. Posted on July 9, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ I reserved a table online 2 days before my visit to Guanbana. I had high expectations especially after reading the reviews on here. Unfortunately I was left feeling disappointed after my visit here. When I arrived with my part we were asked to sit in the rear of the restaraunt where it was really cold, even though they had patio heaters. When I asked to be seated in the warmer part (at front) i was advised all tables were taken and that this was all that was available. I kindly informed the waiter that I had booked my table 2 days in advance and had expected them to keep a good reservation for me. To which he replied that I should have stipulated on the online reservation what part of the restaraunt I would like to sit in.
I was baffled!! I advised him this was my first visit, how could I possibly have done that? And anyway the online reservation facility doesnt allow you to pick where you sit anyway.
Anyway, moving on, once seated in a warmer part of the rear of the restaraunt, (yes it was still cold, but would do), we ordered our food and drinks.
I ordered a Pineapple mohito which was absolutely divine, my fellow diners ordered a pina colada and a strawberry mohito, all of which we enjoyed thoroughly.
My fellow diners ordered Grilled haloumi and advoocado salad, with sweet potato chips. And ackee and salt fish festival. They enjoyed their food which I am happy to acknowledge.
I ordered the spicy jerk chicken cesear salad, with handcut casava chips with garlic butter. The chips were good, the salad was good, unfortunately the chicken was not! The chicken was really dry and sweet! When I asked the waiter why the chicken did not taste like spicy jerk chicken, he advised me that on ordering the salad I should have informed him that I wanted spicy or bbq chicken. Again I let it go, thinking it was my mistake, but on reflection, it actually states on the menu that the salad came with a spicy jerk chicken. It doesn't give you an option of bbq or spicy, so again I was baffled.
He must have realised because 10 minutes later he bought us a pitcher of mohito on the house. I was made up thinking ok, it was a mistake, but again the pitcher of mohito tasted nothing like the drinks we had ordered individually. It just tasted of water, mint and a little sugar. At this point it was getting colder and colder and my mood was beginning to dwindle but the thought of dessert kept me going.
We all ordered desserts of banoffee pie and ginger cheesecake which was good.
My colleagues enjoyed thier food, sadly I didn't. Although we really enjoyed the ambience of the place. maybe it was a one off experience, but because I had travelled so far and had really hyped myself over it, I definitely won't be going back again, as there is no guarantee your going to get a good table and I certainly like to eat my food in the warmth not in the cold. ★★★★★ Excellent food and great ambience. Service can be a bit disorganised during busy times, but this easily forgiven. The Jerk Chicken is a must try! Posted on September 16, 2009 |

★★★★★ (1of2) I have been here twice now. The first time I took my sisters and they loved everything. The second time with the Mrs and we were pondering whether to chain ourselves to the place and never leave. The ambience is lively, with a latin vibe and rustic. Looks rather nice in the dimmed evening light, (I hear -from friends- it's brilliant to sit out in summer). A mellowed out place where you can hang and enjoy the food. The staff are fun and helpful in explaining the exciting menu. This place is a fusion of Caribbean/Latin and the dishes reflect that. The food is unbelievable. The calamari was crisp, not oily and not insanely chewy (like some places). But the Flying Adobo (chicken wings in a BBQ sweet soy kinda sauce) is where it is at. Me and the wife stopped our conversation till be had finished chewing the last bone. Then simply dipped out fingers in the sauce and enjoyed that. Then we felt sad for a moment that it was over. It demanded respect. The flavour is intense and delicious. Gloriously sticky with a sweet glaze, with a BBQ kinda zing to it. We decided that it must be covered in black gold - as we would gladly go to war over it. My kingdom for the Flying Adobo's! If you try only one this - this is it. I have had the Jerk chicken there which I cleaned off ratherly well. It?s not "traditional" Jerk, as I said, but a more colourful and sweeter take on the original. Complemented nicely by the mango chutney. The Mrs for awhile had wanted a "serious" burger. She was not disappointed. Posted on May 29, 2008 |
