★★★★☆ Chicken kebab was delicious - however, I don't suggest getting any special flavors (BBQ, etc.) because they don't put enough of the special sauce to make it taste different enough from the regular kebab to make it worth the added charge. The kabuli palow is amazing; you definitely have to get it if you're coming here! The main downside is the high price tags on the items. Posted on August 8, 2013 |

★★★★☆ I got the chicken and lamb platter and the food was really well seasoned. The kabobs were delicious and so was the kabuli pulaw (the carrot and raisin afghani rice) - yum!
the prices were decent for nyc, the place is well decorated but it is teeny tiny. I've seen them squeeze larger parties but I would stick to it if you have a table of 4 or 6, not more. the service was really slow (we thought that the waiter forgot about us!) but the food was worth the wait. Also, the sambosas (fried meat pastries) were deeelish! dip it into the yogurt that it ocmes with and it makes it a perfect app. The serving sizes are generous though so I wouldn't order too many appys. I'll definitely be back the next time im in the city! Posted on April 28, 2011 |

★★★★☆ I first came across this place when I was in NYC for a few months in 2002 for work and lived in midtown. I mostly had my food delivered but also ate in a few times. When I came back to NYC permanently for a few years (2004-2009) this was one of my favourite spots. The food is delicious and I found the service quite good. I introduced a number of colleagues and friends to this place and will definitely try to get there next time I am in NYC! Posted on June 1, 2010 |

★★★★★ probably one of the best afghani restaurants in our area. Posted on September 9, 2009 |

★★★★★ Definitely Expensive but the food is totally amazing. I go there at least once a month if not more. all the meat dishes are very good. I havent tried the sea food menu since it goes above what I want to spend on average dinner. Posted on January 5, 2009 |

★★★★★ must try the Chapli kabab the best in NYC. Posted on July 16, 2008 |

★★★★☆ Good Food. Kinda Pricey for Small Portions. Get Nice Halal Spot for Upper East Side. Not Related to AKH4 in Jackson Heights. Posted on March 12, 2008 |

★★★★★ The serving size is good and the service is quite quick. They dont take much time to deliver at your doorstep in Manhattan. A bit on the expensive size though Posted on July 6, 2007 |

★★★★★ I'm really surprised that there is no entry for AKH2 here on zabihah as it is not a new restaurant...
the decor is cozy but rugged and unique at the same time.
the salad here is typical salad of afghan restaurants which is unfortunately not that fresh, however it is edible with a dressing of white sauce. the bread that comes with the typical entree is usually good especially with white sauce. the rice here is delicious and very well seasoned and cooked. the white sauce is arguably the best white sauce in NY - always very fresh with a perfect consistency (not too runny nor too thick) and the right amount of tanginess. the chicken tikka here is excellent as is the beef kofta. there is no shortage of afghani restaurants in NY and the typical plate here is a couple of dollars more expensive than elsewhere, however it is worth it.
