★★☆☆☆ This is a place to visit so long as you do not mind little or no service. The starter (grills) are the only dishes that were ok. Mains are mass produced. Bill wasn't much but neither was their food. Posted on December 27, 2013

★★★★★ Tayyabs is a power house in London. This review is based on a few visits. Went in the evening time on a Wednesday and was very very busy, is very loud but it is a buzzing atmosphere. Went in an afternoon on a Tuesday around 3pm and very very quiet. If you want peace, stick with the daytimes; and if you want the crazy buzz atmosphere, go in the evenings. Now the food; simply superb. No one dish deserves to be pointed out, you will basically like whatever you order. Okay, will give a shout out to the Mango Lassi, it's a league its own ! ★★★☆☆ Went on a Sunday, was very packed and cramped environment, had to wait a while to get a table. Was very unhappy with the situation of our table, cramped into a corner and extremely close to very loud customers, could barely hear my husband sat opposite me. There dishes they served on were too big to fit onto our table and a waiter actually threw some of our food onto one of our plates to retrieve some space. Waiters were very brash and not very friendly. Extremely uncomfortable with the abundance of alcohol being served, a bit of a pub atmosphere. It's a shame that the Muslim owner doesn't cater very well to Muslims. However... I have to say, the taste of the food was amazing, great balance of flavours, best Indian food I've tasted. ★★★★★ I have visited Tayyabs and enjoyed the food. After a week, I searched on internet but they did not deliver. I really did not want to leave the house and wanted Tayyabs. When I checked on some web sites I saw that they had different menu to what Tayyabs had in the restaurant. ★★★★★ Went with some colleagues end of 2012. I had been a few times when I was a student in London in late 1990s and had last been there around 2002 when visiting London. The place has expanded significantly and it was packed! The food was as excellent as I remembered it to be. We had a variety of dishes and everyone left extremely satisfied. The lassi was amazing. ★★★★★ This place was extremely delicious. We tried the chicken, lamb and keema karahis as well as paneer tikka, chicken tikka, lamb chops, bhindi and dhal. All dishes were above par. For appetizers we would recommend the lamb chops over the chicken tikka. The chicken karahi and okra/bhindi were our favourite dishes although they were all good. The mango lassi was perhaps the best lassi I've ever had. Wonderful! Unlike other reviews here, we found the service to be quite good and the place was quite crowded with a lineup. ★★★☆☆ Tayyabs is still a great place to eat though standards in service have definitely declined. Chicken karahi and mango lassi are still in their own leage but portions are decididely smaller (don't bother the lamb chops!) Here are the downers: alcohol brought in by punters (byob), preferential treatment if you are white, an online booking service which is pointless since you still have to queue, long queues, waiters who literally stand over your head to get you to finish and leave, portions that have decreased in size. Upside = food is fantastic, prices are great considering it is so close to the city, a place you can always rely on to churn out a good meal and finally the best mango lassi in the south (the crown still belongs to Mumtaz, Bradford) Posted on April 9, 2011

★★★★★ This is our must hit spot whenever we were in London - I've taken visitors from all backgrounds and no one has been disappointed. The queues are long and getting longer and the dinner crowd makes for a loud meal but that proves that this place is a real draw. The chicken karahi and the lamb chops are fantastic. ★☆☆☆☆ The most overrated restaurant in the world!!! Very bad service, waiters were dim and stood over us while we ate the whole time. Samosas were mico-sized (about one inch in height) and were drenched in oil. Some of the curries were OK but most had far too much oil in them as well. Biryani was abysmal. The biggest put-off was definitely the poor service and annoying/ pushy/ slow waiters who ruined the whole experience for us. I saw that English people were being treat like Kings & Queens - if they complained/ asked for something it was dealt with straight away, yet when the South Asians asked for anything the waiters looked at it as unnecessarily whining and didn't want to address their issues. I guess it's a good restaurant to go to if you want to experience what dining out must have felt like colonial India. Otherwise i'd avoid it like the plague. Posted on January 20, 2011

★★★★☆ It is worth me saying that I did not eat in and placed a phone order for takeaway so my review is based on the quality of food only. We ordered food for Iftar and it was brilliant and for a reasonable price. The chops were huge and we got four for £6. I disagree with the reviews on the Lassi I didn't think it was all that to be honest but maybe I just got a bad batch. The currys were really good, a bit too much ghee but that's to be expected with takeaways. We ordered a portion of lamb chops, 3 currys, 2 naan, 2 roti and 2 lassi and it all came to just over £31. The portions were of a good size, we had to divide the them in two and save the rest for another night. All in all I would definitely recommend Tayyabs for a takeaway probably not eating in. ★★★★☆ This place used to be the best place around a few years ago when it was broken up into sweet shop, curry house, cafe and takeaway. But since its change into a single large restaurant the place has changed a fair bit. ALWAYS BUSY, may have to wait for service, and the food has gone from amazing down to mediocre. ★★★☆☆ Better than alot of indian restaurants in London, however i would rate it 7/10 as not everything we ordered was great. I recommend the Kebabs & tandoori chicken & naan, however if your watching your weight, ask for naan without butter, i found it a bit heavy. The Karahi mixed veg & Karahi lamb chops were sub standard, 2 chops for £6!. Had rasmalai for dessert, to sweet for my pallet, will try the lasi next time. Service was ok, small tables & like others have mentioned, once you've finished your meal, the waiters are keen to clear your table. ★★★★☆ The starters are incredibly good. The Lassi is excellent. Prices overall are surprisingly low considering the location and quality of the food. The queues are lengthy and it might be difficult to get a table quickly. Went on a Wednesday night at 18:10 and the place was packed out! The main negative has to be the alcohol policy, as stated numerous times by others here. They do not sell alcohol, but they allow you to bring your own. The place is filled mostly with non-muslims who obviously cannot live without alcohol, so the place is filled with bottles of the stuff. This is very very sad indeed. I would give it 5 out of 5 if they banned alcohol completely, but sadly their main clientele are alcohol guzzling disbelievers and so profits take precedence for the owners of this place. ★☆☆☆☆ Went there with a mixed group of friends and white colleagues. We were pushed into ordering quickly and finishing quickly, mango lassi was average, and the recommended jug to save money came more costly than if we would have ordered individual glasses of mango lassi. Food was below average, they dont serve beef at all, not much choice. I was recommended to this restaurant as the best Pakistani restaurant in London, but ended up thinking a quick dinner in a fast food chicken place would have left me more satisfied. ★★★★☆ Alot of alcohol everywhere - the glasses provided to the patrons who bring their own alcohol are the same as the glasses in which Muslim families are served water, lassi, etc. (washed of course, but the idea of it bothers me). The food however is exquisite - the tandoori prata, lamb chops and the dhaals are my favourite. Their mango lassi is possibly the best in London. The bill howeve,r rises quite quickly. You'd easily spend £50-60 quid between four people. And I agree, sometimes I feel like we don't get proper service because we aren't white. ★★★☆☆ I havent been to Tayabs to see the alcohol consumption, however if customers come and wish to bring a bottle of wine, thats not such a big deal, can drinks and hard liquor is a positive no no, in that kind of environment, i know there will be those that say haram is haram etc etc, however each to their own opinions and interpretations.I know of a few places in London that let u bring a bottle of wine with your meal if you wish to do so, not hard liquor or Beer. This doesnt seem to offend anybody. As long as you dont encourage a person to drink by selling it etc. Come on guys hes running a resturant not a islamic committee . If the place is strewn with alcohol generally and cans everywhere and smell of liquor, that is very wrong and i wouldnt bother eating there myself or encourage anyone else to. ★★★★★ If you like good cheap grilled food than this is the place to go. Amazing starters especially the Lamb chops. They do not sell any Alcohol themselves but customers can bring in drinks from outside, however this is in no way encouraged by the owners. This restaurant is one a the few I know of which is completely closed for the whole month of Ramadan both during the day and evening, its quite amazing they dont lose any customers this is probably due to their amazing food. If such a shocking and Islamically unethical practice is tolerated and supported it is, without all doubt, in the best interests of the muslims NOT to attend this venue PERIOD. A law passed over 1400 years ago to be dismissed for the purpose of profit so comfortably by the owners can bring to mind the seriousness of the owners to uphold the halal laws regarding meat. If haram meat can be obtained cheaper do you think not the owner will purchase it, for the entire business is concerned with making money by any means necessary. The bottom line here is the food is delicious however if alcohol is allowed to be served then you have been given the clearest of warnings in the decision to make. ★☆☆☆☆ I am absolutely disappointed and very frustrated about Tayyabs because they allowed (permitted) non muslims to bring alcohol into the restaurant, such as Budweisers, Fosters Largers and many others. Some of the non-muslims customers were drunk. How could a nice muslim family or sisters in Islam could attend a restaurant like this. They should set an example but they are merely interested making large profits in the haram way. Another fact is there are behind East London Mosque (Masjid) and London Muslim Centre, why does any muslim brother from that masjid, check and correct on them. There are not following the straight path (In Surah Al-Fatihah. We must show them the right path: 'Ihdinas siratal Mustaqim' (Guide us along the straight path). Why do they not follow other restaurants who set a very good example. For example, Abu Zaid in Shepherd's Bush area in the West of London. How could they be classified as Halal. When Halal means what is permissiable in Islam. Alcohol is not permissiable in Islam. This is double standards and the restaurants is living a lie. I am very sorry to disappoint you brothers and sisters in Islam who thinks that Tayyabs is superb. As well as wrote interesting and good reports about them. This should not be taken in good consideration and look only at actual Islamic facts. It is not superb at all and frankly I rather be honest about it. And then to be a hypocrite to Islam. Does it also say to be Halal, the environment must be Halal. It is not! To all brothers and sisters in Islam you should take note of the environment you are in and try not to be corrupted due to outside influences and external parameters.
