★★★☆☆ The stopped accepting any credit card! That is a huge bummer, since anyone hardly carries cash these days. I wasn't expecting this from a restaurant I've been going for years, albeit there food quality has been dropping year after year. I hope they start accepting credit cards again.
Now, onto the food - tom yam soup, beef rendang, red curry beef, green curry chicken, mixed fried rice (chicken, shrimps, and egg - nasi goreng I believe) are all fast movers and top choices for this restaurant. Posted on December 30, 2015 |

★★★★☆ Came here with my brother and cousin. Place was packed for a Sunday brunch time. Waiter was helpful for ordering. The curry was the best item we picked followed by the noodle. Rice dish we got was not great. Satay were also very good. Would return. At the time we went they were only accepting cash. Dishes were a bit expensive but portions were large. ★★★★★ Amazing food. We've tried the satays, Curried meats with roti, Maly curry is a milder version. Nasi Goreng, Noodles and The Tarik the tea. Everything is pretty delicious here. Lots of space. They do not take reservations. Food take a while to get served. It can be pricey depending on what you order. they will take special care to serve you food without peanuts or fish/shellfish allergies etc Posted on April 24, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ Satay chicken is good with peanut sauce. Also the beef noodles with pepper is good. average food. waiters are very friendly but the owner lady is the pinnacle of rudeness. She refuses to accommodate any requests. In case you have issues...heavens save you. Posted on April 6, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Very average food, worse customer service ever, waitress and manager/owner very rude, no care for people's needs. Will not return and would not recommend. Also questionable halal authenticity. Posted on March 3, 2013 |

NR The service was really bad, especially the manager that had no care what so ever which was rude and impolite. Posted on March 2, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ We were there for dinner and were told that there was a 45 mins wait. Since our 20 months old was really hungry, we decided to go to a fast food place nearby to get some french fries for her, as she was starting to get cranky and wouldn't be able to wait the 45 mins. When we got back, we got a table, we sat and 2 mins later the waitress came and told us that the French fries were not allowed in the restaurant. We tried to reason with the manager who apparently also is the owner, but nothing doing. He told us to finish them outside or go put it in the car. And he was rude as well. After some explanation, we finally decided that he would give us french fries from there. So he rudely grabbed the ones we had from our hands. After we told him about his rudeness, he didn't really care, he even used the F word. We understand rules are rules, but rules can be bent depending on the situation. The didn't have any care for anyone's needs. Very bad customer service. We were regular customers but we will never go back there. Posted on March 2, 2013 |

★★★★★ I go here often for lunch as it is not too far from work, this place is AMAZING - GREAT Atmosphere, GREAT food, GREAT beverages and very good service. The Lychee drinks are awesome, love the rotis' and the Nasi goreng is to die for. I would rate this place as one of the best halal restaurants in the GTA/suburbs and to my knowledge they DO NOT serve pork! Posted on February 1, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ This place is likely owned by Buddhists since there's a big Buddha statue in the entrance if the restaurant.
A brother of mine saw them providing food to this idol.
Definitely wouldn't recommend eating here regardless of the halal sign. Posted on April 27, 2012 |

★★★★★ Great location in Richmond Hill, its quite a nice place, great ambience and busy ! The food was excellent and amazing variety. I am not a big fan of Malaysian/Thai food but this place has extensive menu. It is high end resturant so be prepared to pay $25+ person and you will not be disappointed. Posted on February 27, 2012 |

★★★★☆ This is a fine restaurant. Although the waiting time could be a bit overwhenling sometimes. Food is usually great but a bit on the pricy side. The drinks are expensive but well worth the $. Posted on February 13, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Very good food with excellent customer service in a classy atmosphere. We tried the Beef Randang (very good), Yellow Curry with Chicken (good but i like the Thai version better), Shrimp Curry with Pineapple (very good), the Tom Kah Gai Soup (lemon grass soup with chicken - which was excellent) and the Roti (very good). Also had the Teh Tarik Hot Tea (tea with condensed milk). Very fast and friendly service and very attentive waiters. Nicely decorated interior. Prices are a little on the high side, but this is the type of restaurant you go to on special occasions, so it is worth it. I highly recommend it. Posted on November 5, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Great decor, no alcohol served. Food was good as well, the portions are big so be sure to confirm size before ordering. The menu was a challenge to figure out what to get but the hostess did a good job of helping. Gets very busy in the evenings, they don't take reservations. Posted on September 5, 2011 |

★★★★★ This restaurant has a huge variety of authentic Malaysian food and drinks. The quality and ambience is good. This place remains my late Mom's favourite Malaysian restaurant in North America - we travelled for almost 2 hours from Niagara Falls, ON to get here - and she still felt it was worth the trip. In fact, to make the trip worthwhile, after eating our lunch there, we decided to also order our favourites like Nasi Goreng (fried rice) as take away for dinner! Posted on April 6, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ The ambiance is great but the service is hit-or-miss. You have loads of menu choices, but the food was pretty average. The waiting staff could have been friendlier and more responsive. I'll give it one more shot and update. Posted on August 13, 2010 |

★★★★★ As soon as you walk into this place, the smells are delicious, and you wonder what it is because you want to order it! The fresh made smoothies and drinks are top notch with fair pricing. The mango drinks are my favourite because they are not overly sweet. The Malay style milk tea is also really good. For apps, the roti and curry dishes are really good. Soups are also good and can tell they are made fresh because you can get the chicken corn soup without crab in it. As for main dishes, there has been hits and misses.
As for misses, the rendang beef, which is an extremely dry beef in a really gritty coconut paste was really bad. Angel fire chicken also had a weird taste which I can only describe as being under seasoned (salt). Those are the only 2 dishes I didnt care for at this place. There are a lot of really good dishes on this menu-- the black pepper beef noodles, muslim style noodles, malay syle fried rice, chili chicken, and sweet and sour chicken and shrimp, were all so amazing. These dishes were very flavorful, fresh, and well prepared. I read somewhere, (I think it was on trip advisor) that the Chef used to cook for Malay Royalty and I do notice a lot of Malaysians eating here - which is a good sign! As for dessert I've only tried the banana fritters with mango ice cream, and it was really good. Prices are fair, and portions are huge! Definitely reccomend this place to all! ★★★★★ Definitely one of the best Halal restaurants in the GTA in terms of food, service, and ambiance. Nice place for a fancy dinner. Dinner menu is on the expensive side and can be confusing since the items have Malaysian names and come in different portion sizes. Lunch menu is great because it offers per person plates and is very reasonably priced. Posted on December 20, 2009 |

★★★★★ Discovered this place a year ago when my aunt and uncle invited our entire family for dinner at this restaurant. I introduced this place to my co workers and they liked it so much we end up going on average to restoran malaysia once a month. For those of you who like spicy food, try the angel fire beef. ★★★★☆ Average food but good variety and presentation. Good decor. Nice place to take guest to but be warned that 15% tip was charged on top of our bill which was not only surprising but very expensive. Average cost per head was around $ 30 per head. Posted on September 24, 2009 |

★★★★☆ Have been to the place twice. Honestly can't tell whether the meat is halal or not since the owner and waitresses don't look like practising muslims at all.
But the food is good with the caveat that as a non-malasian I need a lot of help with the menu to order what suits me.
You're not going to be dissapointed at this restaurant and the price is quite reasonable. Posted on November 28, 2008 |

★★★★★ This place offers some amazing dishes. We really enjoy nasigoreng (fried rice) and pineapple sweet/sour chicken & chili chiken. Also, we love the sambal fish but it is extremely spicy (there's even a warning on a menu but we never took it seriously). What we really love about this place is that there's no alcohol, it's extremely clean and it's healthy since it's not deep fried like many other halal places. Excellent! Posted on September 1, 2008 |

★★★★☆ I have been here twice and want to go there again and again. The food, restaurant setting and service is amazing. 1st time, I had a very good server whom I explained that I am not looking for any Hakka style chinese that I eat often, I'm here for authentic Thai or Malay flavour and aroma, and the soup and beef was very good with all that lemongrass and bambooshoots. 2nd time took close friends from US and they immensely enjoyed the food and the place, jumbo shrimps, fried noodles and cocunut rice with awesome flavor were very very good. I myself buy meat from the same supplier. For those who cannot decide on what to order, should take advice from the servers they are well oriented. Posted on February 27, 2008 |

★★★☆☆ I went to this resturant last week for the very first time.. didnt know what to order.. we were recemended Malay Chikcen and Thai Noodles...honestly it was horrible .. we literally did not eat anything and came home empty stomach... If this place is so good like everyone else is saying can anyone recomend me what to order there??? Posted on October 31, 2007 |

★★★★☆ The food is great but you must know what you're getting in to. The general style of the food is Malaysian and Thai. NOT CHINESE-INDIAN (if that's what your expecting, then you're in for a surprise!). They are almost always busy so expect to wait but it is well worth the wait... considering there aren't many halal restaurants that serve something different than the usual 'chilli chicken and friend rice' =). ★★★★★ I have been going here for a number of years now and it is still one of my favorite places. The taste of the food is different than other chinese/indian type restaurants. But the food is great. Try the spicy dishes on the menu they are particuarly good. Posted on March 8, 2007 |

|
★★★★★ Huge Portions, have been there many times and service is great. Food is very fresh and delicous. The use high quality meat (not like most indian chinese places). Try Meegorian Noodles with beef, pad thai and roti and curry. One of the best indian chinese restaurants in North America, Hands Down. Posted on February 13, 2007 |

★★★★☆ Went with a couple of friends last week. Service is alright. Nice setting and plus there is a whole lot more space as compared to before. Recommend their satays( chicken and beef), and the malay chicken curry. The singapore chicken is was just a bolied chicken with steamed rice so it wasnt a pleasure to try that out. We had also ordered strawberry smoothie which was very good as well. Liked their noodle dish with gravy (cant remb. the name)with some hot sauce on the side, which made it very delicious.
Overall a nice place with something different to try! Posted on November 14, 2006 |

★★★★★ My husband and I love to eat at this restaurant.. the service is always amazing, also this is the only halal thai food restaurant. Despite what others have said .. i don't think you should get discouraged and not try it! They have also just newly renovated.. so it acommadates many more than b4. Wow i feel like a spokes person for them.. :) .. just go u'll love it. Posted on October 18, 2006 |

★☆☆☆☆ On my 3rd attempt at this resturant, about 10 of us went and found the hostess to be rude and not very cooperative when it came to accomodating a large group. The food took forever to come. Soup was worth the wait, but the rest was average. Service needs a lot of work. Not sure if i'd return. Posted on October 4, 2006 |

★☆☆☆☆ The service is AWFUL.... and the people working there are soo rude. The food isnt the BEST thing i have eaten too. NEVER AGAIN will i go there... Posted on September 30, 2006 |

★★★★☆ I'd agree with Budi that the service here is not on point. It's more a relaxed family place than anything else. They forgot one of our dishes and it only came after we had eaten almost everything else. That said, the food here is excellent and the portions are very large. Plus, if you are not Malay or Thai and already familiar with the cuisine there are scores of exciting dishes to explore here. They can adjust the spicing for you or as someone else suggested you can ask for hot sauce. The dining room is kind of midrange in terms of decor - nice enough family place and the dishes as served family style (assumption being that you will be sharing). There are several luscious non-alcoholic cocktail choices available. I had a yummy pina colada-like smoothie. The desserts - traditional Malay desserts are also pretty interesting - again, if you aren't South-East Asian, they won't be what you are used to in terms of taste and texture, but explore a little. I was pretty excited at the chance to finally get to this restaurant as it normally is way way way out of my way and it did not disappoint me. Posted on April 26, 2006 |

★☆☆☆☆ We went there last weekend for the first time. The service was very bad!!! Our order was taken orally and it took so long to serve the dishes. One dish was forgotten, so we had to wait again. The servers did not pay attention at all to us, did not ask whether everything is okay, not even paying any attention to our glasses that were empty. After the main dish we ordered a dessert and it took so long again so that we canceled the order. When the server gave us the bill, she said that the manager insisted that we have to pay the desser that we had cancelled.
This is the worst thing that we have ever experienced!
Would we repeat our visits or recommend this Restoran Malaysia?? Definitely NOT!!! Posted on November 2, 2004 |

★★★★☆ Even before Restoran Malaysia declared it was halal eatery, it was a safe haven for many Malaysian Malay's all over Canada (as far as Ottawa and Vancouver)to savor Howard's sefood makan. Kampong Ku had spent lots of time with the owner(Howard as the pioneer of Kampong Ku radio)talking about his food. He knows his business when he talks about halal food because he spent years teaching cooking classes in Malaysia. Posted on August 20, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ You guys ought to be careful with Malaysian restaurants owned by chinese who claim their restaurants are Halal because to them, the meat might be slaughtered but of of them don't care or don't know that we cannot consume any pork or prok based foods including stock or gravy. Please check carefully knowing that the Halal regulations are not that strict in this part of the world. Posted on August 3, 2004 |

★★★★☆ I've been to this restaurant a couple of times. Its quite a nice place and also clean, and great ambience. The food was excellent the first time, but the last time I went there, it was just OK. Some of the desserts are nice too. Nice to get a chance to taste Malaysian/Thai Halal cuisine. The owners though are Chinese Malaysians- not Muslims.... but they have a big sign on the window saying it is 100% Halal. Posted on March 1, 2004 |

★★★★☆ The restaurant was very clean, service was quick, food was good but you have to develop the taste for it. If you are desi, make sure u ask for Hot SAUCE, cuz NOTHING IS SPICY THERE.
It certainly deserves a try. Posted on February 27, 2004 |

★★★★★ For those looking for a break from the usual Indo-Pak fare, this place offers an excellent alternative. The service is friendly and fast and the food quantity and quality is great. They have also stopped serving alcoholic drinks to cater to its' Muslim clientele. Highly recommended!! Posted on February 18, 2004 |

|
★★★★☆ By the name of Allah. When I asked the owner where he gets his meat from, he said he now buys all of it from H & H Halaal Meats. I went to H & H and spoke with the owner. They hand slaughter all of the meat they sell, so it is 100% halaal. But when I asked him about Restoran Malaysia, he said the owner only buys 80-90% of his chicken from them, and gets the rest from somewhere else (maybe halaal, maybe not). At Restoran Malaysia, there is also the issue of who is cooking the food. If the chefs are non-Muslim, then there are najaasat issues which according to some madhhabs would render the food haraam. ★★★★★ Bismillah. I went here about 1 week ago and liked the food quite a bit. The owner is not Muslim however the meat is purchased from Bismillah Halal Meats (according to the waiter I was talking to but one should verify this again insha'Allah). I had the rice with beef and the noodles with chicken. The latter was the better of the 2 and was so good!!! The front desk guy was extremely polite as well. You get 10% off the order if you pick it up. Posted on May 13, 2003 |
