★★★★★ I know the owner from his humble beginnings. The food is always good here, never been disappointed. The bbq is sizzling and nans fresh and hot. That is a key ingredient of desi food. My kids love the chicken curries while I enjoy the Bihari and other Kabab’s. They also have an open buffet which offers great bang for the buck but make sure u go with an appetite Posted on February 22, 2022 |

★☆☆☆☆ HORRIBLE .. HORRIBLE .. HORRIBLE ..
HORRIBLE experience today. I saw the review in google and drove for an hour to experience Zaika. The moment we stepped in, the head waiter suggested to go for Dinner Buffet, this being our first (least I knew at that time that it would be our last visit) we went ahead with the waiter's recommendation. The starters were horrible (dead cold items, like they got it out of the chiller just now), then came the salad which was also horrible. The main course of worst of all, the rice didn't even look like basmati rice, butter chicken was kind of ok but that was also probably made in the morning or yesterday (not fresh). Mutton was rubbery and not good. There was tandoor, think it was made 2 days ago (super hard and dead cold again). There was chickpeas, not sure what do to with it as the buffet did not even have plain rice or Jira rice. There was soda in room temperature, Gulab Jamun which was probably made in Jan-2021 for the new year. Heights of all is the naan, even that was cold and the dinner buffet gave us the feeling that we were been fed with left overs. The final shocker came in with the bill, this left over food from 2 or more days ago (God knows how long) costed me $54 for two people ... TOTAL RIP OFF.
I WOULD NEVER EVER SET MY FOOT AGAIN IN THIS CHAIN AND WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND ANYONE NOT TO GET DECEIVED BY THE REVIEW IN GOOGLE (PROBABLY ITS FROM SOMEOTHER LOCATION, BUT THIS ONE IT'S DEFINITELY NOT) Posted on May 28, 2021 |

★★★★★ MashAllah always fresh food and friendly faces! Fresh Chicken karai and naan are a must! BBQ dishes, chaats, and the mirchi salan are delightful. I have ordered catering for family events and Zaika has always pleased our guests. They treat you like family and keep your tastebuds happy! Make sure to order the Kashmiri chai and faluda too! ★☆☆☆☆ Wow. What an experience. The wait staff (the 2 ladies) they are rude and unprofessional. I had to ask for my biryani 3 times. Ordered 1 extra Naan with my meal and it took 20 minutes. They put water in the table and charge $2.99 at the end. The place is run like we are back home. They stare and watch customers as if they are thieves. Save you time and money. ★★★☆☆ I went here after all the good reviews I saw. My experience was not a pleasant one. The food was good but the lady who was serving us had an attitude. It was almost like she was trying very hard to be nice but she had spurts of weird behavior including getting upset that the kids were ripping the paper menu and annoyed when i asked her how much the total was saying how would she know, she hasn't even rung it up yet.
Also, we noticed that the malai chicken went bad and we tried to explain it to the lady who did not want to hear it claiming that it is always fresh and comes in every morning. If there was only 1 reason why i wouldn't come back here, it would have to be the poor customer service. You can have amazing food, but if you don't treat your guests right, you don't deserve to be in business. Posted on February 14, 2016 |

★★★★☆ It was ok.. It wasn't amazing but I guess it was decent.. Definitely won't come back. Go to Shehnawaz for good food instead. Don't know why people rated the food so highly. Mixed grill patter was ok like the naan but butter chicken was a little better. Don't go here if you want amazing food.. Also, the servers are a little grumpy and weren't that helpful. Bathroom is decent. Kitchen was horrible looking, when you go to the bathroom you'll see. DO NOT GO HERE!! Posted on December 25, 2015 |

★☆☆☆☆ Go only if you are ready to take the rude behavior of staff as well as manager. Starters are good but service is too slow. Don't even try their main course or rice dish , you will end up wasting your bucks and spoil your mood!! Posted on September 22, 2015 |

★★★★★ WOW that is all that I can say. The food is phenomenal.
Very non descript place a quick serve type of place but the food is amazing.
The mixed grill is a winner. The mixed grill has at least 6 types of kababs in it.
They also have great tawa parathas. The kababs are flavored just right. Not super spicy but not bland either.
Chicken 65 is so so was not so flavorful.
Haleem was very good and fresh.
Butter chicken is not what you would it expect it to be (red tomato based red gravy). I would avoid.
Very good food. Posted on December 22, 2013 |

★★★★★ The food was great! I ordered a variety of things to get a feel of the menu & I did not regret it! The chicken biryani was delicious & very generously portioned! The chicken samosas were packed with chicken & very appetizing! The papdi chaat was not too spicy & the imli chutney along with the spicy green chutney really creates an explosion of flavors in the mouth! The mozzarella sticks are served on some lettuce but I would've enjoyed them just the same without the lettuce. They were a bit soft but I put them in the toaster oven for 5 mins & they were crispy again! The beef naan was so good! I thought it would be oily but thank God it wasn't. It was cooked thoroughly and quite enjoyable! The ras malai was the perfect way to end the meal; with a touch of sweet delight! Like I said before the food was very generously portioned. This order fed 2 people and I still have some left over in the fridge! Thank you Zaika! I give you guys a 5 star rating for excellence! Posted on August 22, 2013 |

★★★★★ The place closes at 10 & I arrived at 9:40 with my family. The staff was very accommodating in getting our food order in before the kitchen closed. We ordered 3 dishes, an appetizer, & 6 naan. All of which were expedited efficiently without a loss for flavor. The food taste was excellent & this is coming from someone that travels alot & has a liking for Indian/Pakistani cooking. The chicken samosas were the best I have ever had. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. My family of 4 were out of there in 30 minutes with our pallets satisfied for $50 including food, drinks, tax, & tip. This includes a very generous tip for the excellent service. ★★★☆☆ I was so excited to try them out after all the positive reviews but I must say it was not as great as it is made out to be.
We opted for snacks - samosa, channa chat, kati roll and kulfi/rabri.
Samosa - my samosa filling had burnt minced meat so I was not happy. Although others in my family got ok samosas and they liked the taste. My son is a picky eater and he actually ate his samosa!
Chana Chat - BAD. ingredients were fresh but spice dressing was just raw spice. My family has a very tolerance for spice but this just tasted like chili powder mixed in water. We got three plates and had to throw out two (it was that bad). It didn't have yogurt or anything to tame/compliment the dressing. It was take out so we couldn't return it. You couldn't even taste/enjoy the next food item you ate because the fire ignited in your mouth.
Kati roll - Good. HOWEVER, NOT a real kati roll. It had some chana masala type dressing inside and no eggs. I liked how their onions did not have the biting raw taste and I really appreciate that. (Original Kati roll is supposed to be just meat, eggs and onions.)
Kulfi/Rabri. Rabri was a bit too sweet but I didn't mind. It was completely welcomed after the whole chat failure. Was missing the basil seeds though that add a nice touch of authenticity.
Overall it was ok but not excellent and a little pricey for desi food.
We had to wait 45 minutes to pick up our order because we were told that "everything they make is fresh". Order ahead if possible. I might just go for kulfi but that is about it. Posted on May 20, 2013 |

★★★★☆ Food taste quality and freshness was superb - we were actually really surprised at how good everything tasted because the service was a bit slow (which made sense since everything was fresh) and the restaurant decor is outdated (ample seating but street parking old fashion style, but then again that's how most desi restaurants are). And although the food is somewhat overpriced it did taste fabulous. I would recommend zaika just based on the excellent food quality alone. And I HIGHLY advise that if you do plan on eating or ordering out from zaika then take a look at their on line menu and place your order 15 to 20 minutes via phone before arriving to save time (otherwise you will end up waiting for your food while it is being made fresh). ★★★★★ My friends and I go to Zaika BBQ almost every week and the food is absolutely amazing! My absolute favorite was the mixed platter. my wife being italian, was not used to all the spices but still really enjoyed the food! The owner was very kind and friendly. My only concern is that this one lady sitting in the corner with the laptop always yelling at a little kid. Her doing this makes it a less family oriented environment. If this is a staff member then I highly suggest the owner to take care of it. Otherwise overall one of the cleanest pakistani restaurant around in the Edison oak tree area. Must try! ★★★★★ I absolutely love the food at Zaika. It is nice to have a restaurant away from the congested iselin area that delivers on both service and quality of food. I have been there more than a dozen times since it opened its doors last year and I can say the food has always been consistent and freshly made each and every time. A must eat in Central Jersey. ★★★★★ Great new restaurant with delicious food. The best part is that every thing is freshly made....nothing is frozen. The taste of food is great; especially the cheese kebabs and mix grill platter. To finish it off, have a bowl of their cold Ras Milai...you won't be disappointed.
It's in a good area with less traffic and lots of parking spots!
Hopefully this restaurant can stick around for a while! Posted on March 23, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ The location is decent, the food is ok and priced decently but be warned that the bbq items do not come with rice or bread which was disappointing. I ordered the cheese chicken kebobs and when i got home to eat it i saw that it was just the kebobs, i was expecting it to be over a bed of rice or with naan.
Also ordered the dhay puri which was awful, id rather go to an indian shop on oak tree road for this. Zaikas made it way too spicy, I didnt enjoy it at all. Overall the place is ok but there are much better options out there.
BTW the menu advertises a lunch buffet, but they told us that there is no longer a buffet. I would come again if they brought back the buffet. Posted on September 15, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ Place is decent. Service was ok. The food took a little while for it to come. We had Goat Korma (was good) beef haleem (was good) and we had the chicken tikka masala (terrible). We ordered samosa's as appetizers but they took just as long to come out with the dinner. The dinner came out one at a time. So the goat korma that we ordered came out 5 minutes before the rice that we ordered to eat with the goat Korma. It is a decent place and might it back here again if I was in the area but would drive a distance to come eat here. Posted on July 17, 2011 |

★★★★★ You don't have to go to Oak Tree Rd anymore. This is the Best Pakistani Restaurant in New Jersey, there isnt any place that comes close. There seekh kababs are the tastiest kababs you can find and to top it all off they have the best chicken cheese kababs as well. Their Chicken tikka masala, Chicken 65, and Bihari Kababs are a must try. Dining in or taking out there food is always amazing. When you dine in you get great service and they definitely know how to present their food. Their Manager and Staff are always welcoming. Cant forget their falooda, its probably the best in Jersey as well, if you havent been there yet you are missing out. Posted on June 14, 2011 |
