This policy explains what information we collect when you use Zabihah’s sites, services, mobile applications, products, and content ("Services"). It also has information about how we store, use, transfer, and delete that information.

Information We Collect and How We Use It

Zabihah collects only the information necessary to provide and improve its Services. When you register, we request basic information such as your first and last name, phone number, email address, and country of residence, but this information is not required. This information is used to authenticate your account, deliver the Services, and personalize messages to you. All other registration fields and personal information are optional. This information is kept private. Zabihah also filters content to fight and prevent spam, fraud, and other forms of abuse.

Users can discover halal restaurants in guest mode without registering, but they cannot place food orders or access certain services (leaving reviews, etc.) without providing additional information through registering an account with either an email address, phone number, or social account. For home delivery, we request addresses and payment methods solely for order fulfillment. This information is required to facilitate transactions, provide customer support, and enhance user security.

Beyond this basic information, users can control their privacy settings during registration and at any time by editing their user profile in Account Settings: whether they are anonymous to other users (via a username); can be contacted by others on the platform; and can receive Zabihah email communications about new Halal restaurants, home food delivery options, coupons from nearby Halal providers, and other relevant information.

When using the Services, we use your location data anonymously to deliver relevant restaurant, home food delivery, and Halal provider banners and ads to you across desktop, mobile, and app platforms. We also collect anonymized search queries to develop market research into Halal market demand. If you provided us with location information in your profile, this is used to send new restaurant and home food delivery notices as well as location-based email marketing delivered directly by Zabihah on behalf of advertisers, provided that you opt-in to these services. While we sometimes provide advertisers with aggregate-level data (such as the number of Zabihah users in a given location), we never provide these advertisers with any information about individual users or personal data. We also never sell information about you to others.

We may share your account information with third parties in limited circumstances, including:

  • After having received your consent;
  • To a service provider or partner who meets our data protection standards;
  • When we have a good faith belief it is required by law, such as pursuant to a subpoena or other legal processes;
  • When we have a good faith belief that doing so will help prevent imminent harm to someone.

If we are going to share your information in response to a legal process involving you, we’ll give you notice so you can challenge it (for example, by seeking court intervention), unless we’re prohibited by law or believe doing so may endanger others. We will object to requests for information about users of our services that we believe are improper.

Third-Party Services

When you create or update your Zabihah account by authenticating with a third-party service (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn), we may collect, store, and periodically update information associated with that third-party account, such as your lists of friends or followers. If you log in through social media, Zabihah will use that social media avatar as your Zabihah profile picture on your reviews. We will never publish through your third-party account without your permission.

Cookies and Tracking

Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device by websites, apps, online media, and advertisements. We use them in various ways, for example to:

  • Log you in and also require you to re-enter your password after a certain period of time to protect you against unauthorized access;
  • Remember your preferences;
  • Ensure you are not repeatedly offered the same advertisements and to customize advertising based on your browser type and location;
  • Evaluate use of our Services and how to improve them.

When you log out, your cookie data is deleted. Zabihah does not track you across the Internet, and we do not use cookies for any reasons other than those listed above. We do not allow third parties to have access to Zabihah’s cookies.

Data Storage and Security

Zabihah uses Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Services, third-party vendors and hosting partners, for hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology. By using Zabihah, you authorize us to transfer, store, and use your information in the United States and any other country where we operate.

No data transmissions over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Consequently, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us. Once we receive your transmission, we make efforts to ensure security on our systems through:

  • Physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect personal information;
  • Password-protected accounts with one-way hashed passwords;
  • Industry-standard SSL encryption to protect data transmissions.

If Zabihah learns of a security breach, we will notify you electronically so that you can take protective steps.

Modifying or Deleting Your Personal Information

Zabihah retains your personal information while you hold an account. You can access, modify, or delete your personal information by going into your Account Settings. Zabihah may preserve and maintain copies of your information when required by regulatory, insurance, tax, or other requirements.

Emails from Zabihah

Sometimes we’ll send you emails about your account, service changes, or new policies. You can’t opt out of administrative emails (unless you delete your account), but you can opt out of marketing emails by updating your Account Settings.

Changes to This Policy

Zabihah may periodically update this Policy. We’ll notify you about significant changes. The most current version of the policy will always be available here.
